So easy to use

If someone asked me to describe what I felt about Tumblr in a few seconds my initial reply to them would be "Tumblr is so easy to use." That is my opinion and I believe that millions of other Tumblr users will agree with me. I hope you are reading this because you are curious about Tumblr and you are not sure whether or not you should be using it. If you own a website and you want to bring more attention to it then I recommend you use Tumblr for technical reasons which I will outline below. I wanted to show some animated gifs (big part of tumblr) but Hubpages does not accept them at present. Maybe that will change in the future.

How to get LIKED on Tumblr

It is not that difficult to get people to like and even reblog your content on Tumblr, especially if you can do something unique or funny. I took a picture of two mail boxes side by side next to the famous Lloyds of London building and put a caption next to it. Some people liked it and I guess if you understand why they liked it, then you can do the same.

Ten Technical Reasons to use Tumblr

1. Tumblr is a network experiencing incredible growth. It now a Page Rank 8 site and will probably end up as a Page Rank 9. It is a formidable force! Most active Tumblr users also have high page rank.

2. It is an open network (as opposed to Facebook) so everything that you do on Tumblr is going to be spidered by Google search

3. You have the choice of simply having a subdomain on tumblr e.g whoisbid.tumblr.com or even a domain name of your choice which you can purchase anywhere and simply point to Tumblr by changing the "A record" for your domain. This means that Tumblr is supplying free hosting if you want it. OK- I admit that they have some technical problems once in a while but - hey, it is free and so who is complaining?

4. If you struggle with building pages using html then Tumblr has a ton of ready made web page applications which you can use for free. There are also cooler applications which you can normally buy for a few dollars and they are well worth it. All of this can be done while you are still using Tumblr. You don't need to go anywhere else. The website templates /applications that you can purchase from them also cater to people from all walks of life and all types of business. If you are an artist there are tons of "arty type" templates you can use.

5. All the links on Tumblr are proper old fashioned links with no strange html attributes (go figure). This means that whatever you do in Tumblr is going to be rewarded somehow by an increase in an increase in Page Rank for your Tumblr subdomain or domain.

6. Tumblr is full of young and active people who are happy to blog not just using text but also images and videos. On Tumblr you don't necessarily need to reply to someone using text. No! You can also reply to someone using an image or some other kind of media. This is paving the way for the future because people are beginning to communicate in visual formats more and more.

7. There is something call the "reblog" in Tumblr which seems to me to be similar to an RSS Feed but not quite. If you chose to "reblog" you can also add something new and so the original document can be enriched by your participation. This is excellent because you can be browsing Tumblr and stumble upon something that interests you. Upon finding this article/picture or video of interest it is very possible to add something to it. Remember that each time you add something you are also bring more visibility to your own tumblr page and also to the original producer.

8. Tumblr is full of love. Woah! What do I mean by that? Well, there is a red heart that you can click on someone's page if you liked it and if you "loved" someone everyone is able to see that it was you. This can increase the popularity of the page writer and also that of the one who "loves" them.

9. Tumblr does not seem to be too strict about their content. Of course they don't want anything illegal and too spammy but they seem to be pretty cool about what you are allowed to upload. This means that if you are inspired in a certain way to produce some content that may seem a bit weird it is OK on Tumblr. When you get a lot of young people together they can more readily laugh at something weird.

10. Tumblr is backed by a new generation of people. I doubt very much that the users are going to decline. Tumblr is an attractive network for young people (and older people who don't despise them)

The Easiest and most powerful way to Blog for young people and older people who like young people

What about me and Tumblr and stuff?

I never explain everything that I am doing on Blogs and even my website can be misleading. Just trust me that Tumblr is going to be of great benefit to your website if you don't want to get into the nitty gritty of too many "whys"

Hi whoisbid,

This actually looks pretty good. I began a blog on Blogger.com, but it has so many bugs in it, sometimes I can't even get in to edit my own stuff. It's not that easy to use. Tumblr looks easier and like I could do more things with it. I'm not very computer literate, and created my blog to get more traffic to my hubs. Now I have a blog nobody reads. I'm self publishing a book too, so now that has all my attention, but I'm trying to keep writing on HP too. Thanks for the idea.

Hey I'm glad you are enjoying Tumblr. I am learning a bit about it too. You are right it is much freer than the other blogging sites.

Of course things may change when it becomes more commercial. There was a time when you could paste or write anything on facebook that you wanted. There was no moderating at all, because they had no money to look at everything! Now things are very, very different on there. It is like big brother is always watching....

Tumblr may go the same way but I hope not. But there will always be something new and up and coming to jump on to.

Hope you are feeling better old mate.
